It's summer time, and that summer body you worked so hard to get can finally see the beach and all the summer heat we all know too well. The heat adds a few things that make working out harder, this article has some tips for working out in the heat so you can continue your summer gains safely.
General Tips
Clothes Matter
The right clothes make a world of difference. Your clothes should allow for a full range of motion and proper air flow.
Hydration is Key
This is the best way to prevent injuries from dehydration, it's simple but a lot of people including myself often overlook water.
Protect Your Skin
If you're going to be working out in the sun, SPF is a must. Regardless if you're just going to sweat it off.
Be Careful
Listen to your body and take breaks when you need to, please dont over do it as the heat can make any workout far more difficult.
Benefits
So Much Sweat
Sweating more means your body is working harder to keep you cool. This is the same idea as the sauna suits you can see people working in. You can feel the fat burning off.
Adaptation
If you workout in the heat, going back to working out indoors or in cooler temperatures will seem easier because your body does not have to do extra work to keep you cool. If done carefully this can be a nice change to your routine to improve your gains.
Best Workouts
Running
The classic and most cost effective workout to do in the heat is running. I recommend running in a place where you can have some sort of shade to take breaks to catch your breath.
Jump Rope
Jumping rope alone is a great workout and gets you sweaty enough as is, doing it in the heat is a sure way to work up a sweat.
Strength Training
If you have an outdoor gym, then you'll feel the full effects of working out in the heat, every workout will feel intense with weight training.
In this workout more than others I advise drinking more water than you think.
